Flamenco Rosado is a collective exploring the intersection of queerness, identity, ethnicity, decolonization, and healing through the framework of traditional flamenco as a performance, community engagement event, and egalitarian practice. Utilizing the traditional structure of the cuadro (ensemble) we are developing — through conversation and action — a queer tablao (traditional style performance). Through this “queering” of the practice, our goal is to find new pathways in how we can relate to the art of flamenco from our individual practices, perspectives and voices.

We are collaborators assembled to create a balance that speaks to our individual strengths. There is an emphasis on egalitarianism, experimentation, play, and a celebration of queer joy. Together, we are embarking on something meaningful individually and collectively and speaking on something greater than ourselves. -Short Biographies

Ángel Jacinto (they/them): Composer, musician, multi-media artist: Ángel Jacinto is an NYC-based non-binary Mexican multidisciplinary artist who has worked as a bilingual writer, zine publisher, illustrator, photographer, cinematographer, musician, lyricist, and sound artist since the late 1990s.

BLU MORPHO (they/them/she/her): Composer, musician, multi-media artist: BLU MORPHO is a Greek-American interdisciplinary musician, composer, filmmaker, and visual artist particularly interested in combating the erasure of queer and trans narratives by creating cultural artifacts that preserve and acknowledge our contributions to the community. Their debut EP, "Soft Games" is currently out on all streaming platforms.

Nico Wells (he/him): Composer, musician, guitarist: Nico Wells is a guitarist from Buenos Aires, Argentina who is specialized in Tango Argentino and flamenco. Nico has traveled the world bringing his music to audiences in Spain, France, and New York and has performed alongside flamenco artists such as David Amaya, Diego "El Cigala", El Pitingo, and tango Maestros Juan Pablo Gallardo, Facundo Mercado, and Bruno Ventura.

Noelani Kidder (she/her): Singer, dancer, filmmaker: Noe earned her MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she studied filmmaking with Tatsu Aoki. Noe has exhibited her work internationally, most recently in Un Festival C’est Trop Court in Nice, France, with PORT ACTIF in Ghent, Belgium and the Kuala Lumpur Experimental Film Festival. She has also screened her films with Millennium Film Workshop, Anthology Film Archives, le Petit Versailles and The Film-Makers' Cooperative in New York City. Noe is currently studying flamenco cante with maestro Alfonso Cid.

Puma Guerrero (they/them): Palmera, dancer: Puma Guerrero is a dancer who explores themes of ethnic, cultural, and queer identity and community via the mediums of flamenco and hip hop, drawing upon their lived experience as queer Xicanx. A recent graduate of Dance at Oberlin College, Puma now lives in NYC advancing their dance training and working as an arts administrator.

HANS (they/them): Dancer, singer, multi-media artist: Hans is a dancer and tattoo artist from Miami, FL with a practice focused on dance as visual art. They have shared work with audiences in Florida and held artistic residencies in New York City. Hans has also participated in projects by Katy Pyle’s Ballez, the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company, Okwui Okpokwasilii, and Peter Born. Hans describes himself and his work as the “gay love-child of Frida Kahlo and Sailor Neptune’s lesbian love affair.”
