Development and Fundraising
June 2025 marked six years since I transitioned from Arts Programming and Community Engagement into Fundraising. In that time, I have moved between major New York City institutions, gaining experience across all areas of development: from small community foundation grants to large federal capital grants, from seasonal corporate sponsorships and in-kind donations to individual giving and board relations.
The shift from programming to fundraising felt natural, informed by my practice as a visual artist, performer, and choreographer. Artists and makers often contextualize their work for residencies, fellowships, and other opportunities—skills that translate seamlessly into building relationships, crafting proposals, and stewarding support for cultural institutions. 20 years of navigating these artistic processes showed me that the expertise creatives cultivate is often directly applicable to fundraising and organizational development.
